Sports Picks and Predictions

The first Blog (Hey Mom, Look at me now!)

With the recent passing of the Super Bowl it occurred to me, why do I care who most of these talking heads on television think will win the Big game? I didn't like many of them as NFL players so why do the networks think I want to know their "prediction" on the game.

Many shouldn't be on the pre or post-game shows because they aren't broadcasters. All of the networks are culpable. They certainly don't have the skills required to be a communicator to the masses. There are some players that have made a good transition to this world but most just don't have the skills. For every Steve Young there are twelve Emmitt Smith's (possibly a Baker's Dozen!) A large contingency of these "analysts" feel some loyalty to their former teams and don't give or simply just don't have an honest opinion.

I realize this boosts their networks ratings, I'm just not sure how. Gambling is obviously huge is sports, but I simply can't believe that anyone is waiting on any of their predictions before making a call to a bookie.

Sports Picks and Predictions

Hey congratulations on the first post, I just did mine as well! I think you're right about this. Some guys shouldn't be on T.V. I think it is just that they think people like retired players on T.V. but really a guy that has never played in the NFL can do as good of job as one that did!

The way things are headed and the ratings game they all play, We're about three years from Victoria's Secret doing the post game recap...Wait that would be a good thing.

Sports Picks and Predictions

I have to agree with you on this. I mean  Dan Marino is my favorite football player of all time but, I can't stand to listen to him talk before the games, during the games or after the games.
